Question #1:
Do you know the name of this art/craft tool?
something I need right now, but don't know what it's called so can't search online to buy it. From what I remember, it's a long piece of bendable rubber/plastic, you shape it to a shape you are after and it will stay firm until you decide to bend it again. I think normally it is straight in shape but you can then put a few bends in it and it will hold it's new shape. I think it's not too soft otherwise it wouldn't hold its shape, it is useful for several curves and such. Sorry if this is not very clear, please tell me what it's called or where to find it if you know, thanks :)Question #2:
Could Psychology of Motivation Save the US Economy?
Could the US Economy Be Saved by "Jobs Creation Prizes"?In the past I have suggested prizes to get energy independence technology breakthroughs, and my suggestions were roundly ignored by the Powers that Be.
I'm from Manhattan -- I have Tude -- I'm still here -- and so, not giving an inch, here is my Modest Proposal for Today ---
National prizes for Job Creation.
These jobs have to last at least 24 months.
They can't be given to relatives or people already associated with the Job Creator Prize Contestant.
The prizes will be awarded on or about 15 January 2012.
They will be based on jobs created between 1 January 2011 and 1 January 2012.
The top ten contestants with jobs created about 10,000 jobs will get the prizes.
The prizes are twofold:
1. A Congressional Gold Medal as an Economy Booster -- and this comes with a large Certificate that states the Gratitude of the Nation, and that outlines in some detail the precise achievements of the medal winner. This would have a blue ribbon and a gold Congressional seal on it. It would come ready for framing.
2. A cash award of $10,000,000 (Ten Million dollars)
The jobs have to be for citizens of USA, performing at least 90% of the job duties in USA, while speaking English, and using skills learned by experience, in High School, or in College.
The jobs have to be profitable for the organization that hires the person. They can't be fake make-work jobs that just p*ss away money to get the gold medal. Each employed person must marginally contribute net profit to the firm that hires him/her.
Within this framework the jobs can be any legal activity. Drug dealing is not OK, but legal porn is OK, and import/export is OK, and manual labor crafts are OK, and intellectula work (researtch and writing) is OK, and farming is OK, and pavement laying, and making music, or art, or manufactured goods, or selling Pizzas or window caulk.
If the contestant commit criminal fraud by breaking the rules, or sneaky activities, then they will be personally prosecuted and get jailtime if that's what a jury decides.
So the contestants have skin in the game.
It's not a freebie giveaway program where they can cheat their way to victory and walk away with the cash and the medal scott free. They are at risk if they cheat. They can lose their liberty.
Ego is a world driver. More for men than for women. But that's OK. It's a fact.
You harness up that Ego for the National Good, and we might find a pathway out of our doldrums.
If the program works as planned, then for the next two year cycle, we can bump it up to 50 prizes of only $5,000,000 (Five Million dollars each). Once the new thing has been done, and people "get" how it works, you don't need as much money to bring contestants in to the process. That was never a major incentive anyway. It was just there so that folks would know that if they won, some of their expenses would be defrayed, and their personal bank account would get bigger -- so it's worth their time to at least consider.
Once tens of thousands of business people know the prizes are worth their time, you don't need to over-incentivize them with cash. The gold medal and the certificate is almost reward enough.
Ideally, you want the prize money to go down to around $1,000,000 (just to pay for overhead and marginal up front costs), and the number of prizes to go to 100 every year.
At some point you are creating a lot of new jobs.
Not by government "stimulus" stupidities. But by incentivizing the Ego drive in Business Personages.
One of these medals is a great resume item for folks in the CEO Circle.
It's almost like an alternative to Gates/Buffett style Foundation work.
This is better than giving money away -- it is teaching people to fish.

The answers so far indicate that you are not thinking "outside the box" with me. People are talking in terms of the standard routine variables -- taxes regulaion -- aggregate demand that we all learned about in Econ 101.
For this question -- come with me outside the box. My implicit premise is that individual persons -- egos, personalities -- personas -- people can be a brand new resource -- never thought of before - since everyone was staring blankly at the standard variables.
I say that one thing is very plain to me in this world -- individual people can make a huge difference. If Warren Buffett decided that his top and only priority in the next 12 months was to create 100,000 good new jobs HE could do it.
So could Bill Gates.
So could 50 other super high achiever individuals.
Whatever they want to get done -- these people can get done, and not just becuase they are rich. They are Ultra-Effective Individuals.
They make things happen you never learned in Econ 101.

I always wanted to build a circular home, where the the kitchen and dining rooms are in the center of the house. There are 12 doorways, 12 rooms at the ground floors and 12 rooms on the upper floor. There will be room for study, music & video room, Carpenter and metal workshop, agricultural botanical lab, a trophy and collection rooms, a room for for arts and craft, a room for medhanical vehicle transport workshop, etc..etch. Where the houses could rotate 360 degree every 15 minutes. All the fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts I could plucked fresh from the garden I planted around my home. Where I could eat with my pets and my family with joy. Where I could pipe in beautful music all days and enjoy the beauty of my garden, and plantation. I wonder?Question #6:
what is the difference between?
Art and crafts? is there a difference at all?Question #7:
Anyone have any master ideas for my friend??? (bunny question)?
Hey everybody, I have a problem. My best friend wants a bunny, and I mean she wants one badly, but here is the problem. Her mom says no. Now don't say "if she says no that's the end of it" she says no, not because she thinks my friend can't handle it, she gets too upset when the pet passes away. Her dad would say yes if her mom does, so it's up to her mom. My friend says she will pay for the bunny and the accesories (food, cage, toys) and her parents only the vet bill. She would keep it in her room, and she says she would take perfect care of it. (she would, she has had small pets before, and the all were happy and healthy) Again, her parents know she would take care of it. Her birthday is on Sept. 3rd, so she was thinking of asking for a bunny for her b-day, but her mom gets upset when pets die, even when she never loved them. How can she get her mom to give in and let my bestfriend get the bunny?
Also, what do you think I should get her, I was thinking a micheals gift card (arts and crafts store) because she loves drawing and painting. Or maybe a petsmart gift card?
Please people, I need help with this!
Question #8:
What's your opinions on honestly lady gaga caca?
Repackaged Madonna pushing the envelope in more outrageous directions.Yawn.
I think she should have the right to "lose" that image when she's on down time... No one can keep a facade like that forever. When she's on stage, she should be in character, when she's not, she should be able to live her life...as close to normally as possible... Just as any other actor, actress, singer, band member, etc...
I just saw that interview with the Norwegian reporter and, as usual, the way she speaks makes me sick. I cannot be natural, she is trying to be sophisticated, sexy, mysterious and many people fall for it. Her songs are catchy, her voice is ok, but the stuff she makes does not make the world a better place. She is artificial as they come. You can be sexual and that´s ok, but she makes sex look sordid and dirty. I have seen nearly all in my life and it puzzles me that people fall for someone who says 'Pop stars should not eat' or 'I was arrested for wearing too short pants, but it's fashiooon! If she didn't have a good body she would not be famous at all. So, her nudity is art and talent as well. That shows how shallow this world is.
When I finally heard one of her songs I was quite underwhelmed. I couldn't understand why people were making such a big deal over her music. I had heard so many people claim she is talented and what-have-you. Are our expectations for music really this low?
Lady Gaga wants attention. It all starts with her name.. She is trying too hard and you're right, she isn't sincere, and she never will be. Her music videos are pretty much porn, she goes out on public in outfits that probably make her family embarrassed, she is lying about her past, and I doubt she is even bisexual. She isn't ugly but she will be someday, and all her dark fame will disappear to one of those "Where Are They Now?" shows.
her image is obviously perfectly crafted. The bad thing is she can't keep up with what she herself created. She lies a lot and ends up contradicting herself. She makes it obvious that she has forgot some of the lies she's told and makes up more that go against anything she's said in the first place. All in all she is just a mess. And she will pass over soon enough.
Eh whatever. Money and fame and image are no substitute for talent.
No one's gonna look back and say "Lady Gaga made such good music." She'll be known as that chick that dressed weird and made a song about a poker face.
Anyone who is a fan of gaga deserves to be conned. As they are.
Lady gaga is purely commercial.
Well she was on an episode of MTV Boiling Point before her fame where she showed herself to be very ordinary 'the hills' type of girl in style and dress. And, also while the show does intend to rile people up, she lost it with the waitress who was designed to aggravate her. I think she called her retarded or something so she is not the world's sweet, spiritual sweetheart I am inclined to think.
She thrives on attention. that is natural for someone who has extremely low self-esteem.
Question #9:
How much should we sell these for..?
There is a local arts and crafts festival in my town every year called Sum-Nelly. My mother and I want to make a few things to sell at a booth. We were thinking of making aprons, hair bows for little girls and other things like that. I was just wondering what a fair price would be to ask for these items?Half apron-like the one here: Click Here
Mini-clippie- Click Here
Stacked bow- Click Here
Bags (with tied tops)- Click Here
The bows maybe a package deal? Like one for ?? or 2 for ??.
Oh and I make no-sew fleece blankets, too. I have only made a few for my cousins and one for my little sister. Do you think these would sell well? How much should I ask for them by size? ex. small, medium, large, x-large. They are pretty pricey to make unless I can find the fabric on sale.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Should we sell brownies or little pies as well? Would that make our sales increase? I realize these are a lot of questions but this is the first time we have ever considered setting up a booth and I wanna do it right and be fair!
Why would we spend all that time and money just to GIVE them away? We are trying to make a little extra money to buy Christmas presents for our family.
There are lots of food vendors as well as crafts. I'm sure they wouldn't mind us selling a small basket of brownies or pies :)

I think it use to air on Disney Channel. I can't really remember because it was years ago and I was like 4 or 5 (i'm 13, right now). Doubling shop profits?
HiId like some advice on taking over an existing Business and basically doubling the profits. I'll first explain the story behind this. I'm a 20 year old female currently studying a degree called Design Crafts. A couple of years ago my Dad was made redundant and has been doing odd jobs here and there whilst looking for a Business to purcase. For some while now there has been a Art supply and FFramingshop up for sale. Tonight my Dad has made me the ppropositionof if I come up with a viable way of doubling the turnover so that we could both eeventuallymake a living out of it he would seriously consider taking it on.
I have worked in variouse shops and bars since I was 16 and was lucky enough to be given responsibility so I am confident that I would be able to run the shop day to day. The buisness side aspect of the shop my Dad would be responsible for.
There are many ways that we would be able to increase sales. At the moment the shop has no marketing and in my opionion the stock is extreamly limited and far too specialist for where it is without having a website.
Im basically asking anyone who has had experiance of doing what we hope to do (fairytales and horror stories!). Things I should think about ect
Thank you

Question #18:
HELP HUMANITIES PAPER !?
i have to analyze these passages and explain what exactly these two authors are saying. Also i have to say what are the implications of their thoughts toward the study of humanities." Whether in music or architecture, literature, painting or sculpture, art opens our eyes, ears and feelings to something beyond ourselves. something we cannot experience without the artist's vision and the genius of his craft. The placing of Greek temples, like the Temple of Poseidon at Sunion, Outlined against the piercing blue of the Aegean Sea, Poseidon's home; shakespeare's command of language and knowledge of the human soul; the intricate order of Bach, the enchantment of Mozart; the purity of chinese monochromatic pottery with its lovely names- celadon, oxblood, peach blossom, clair de lune, the exuberance of Tipolo's ceiling where, without picture frames to limit movement, a whole world in exquisitively beautiful colors lives and moves in sky; the prose and poetry of all the writers from Homer to Chekhov- who made all these things? We- our species-did. The range is too vast and various to do justice to if in this space, but the random samples i have mentioned, and all the rest they suggest, are sufficient reason to honor mankind." Barbara W. Tuchman. "Mankind's Better Moments," Autumn 1980.
" A few Years after i began teaching, it occurred to me that being a teacher- not being a student- provides the best education. 'To teach is to learn twice,' wrote Joubert, in a simple sounding maxim that could have several different meanings. It could mean that one first learns when getting up the material one is about to teach and then tests and relearns it in the actual teaching. It could meant that being a teacher offers one a fine chance for a second draft on one's inevitably inadequate initial education. It could mean that learning, like certain kinds of love, is better the second time around. It could meant that we are not ready for education, at any rate of the kind that leads on to wisdom, until we are sixty, or seventy, or beyond. i favor this last interpretation, for it accounts for the strange feeling that i have had every year of my adult life, which is that only twelve months ago i was really quite stupid." - Arstides, "Student Evaluation" Spring 1987
